ジェーン博士来日イベントで発表した “てっちゃん”のネクストステップ
Follow Techan’s Next Step after Storytelling at Dr. Jane Goodall’s Event
今年、6月にブリティッシュ・スクール・イン・トウキョウで行われたジェーン・グドール博士来日イベント。当日、ストーリーテリングを行ってくれた高校生の江澤哲哉さん（敬愛を込めて “てっちゃん”と呼ばせていただきます）は、5分間のストーリーテリングの中で、これまでの “心の動き”を丁寧に言葉にし、このように語ってくれました。
「自分が解決策に携わりたい。そう思って今は、『リジェネラティブな生き方』、人間が生きることで地球を再生させる生き方を探究しています。人間が地球を壊す存在じゃなく、むしろ豊かにする存在になれたら――そんな希望を持っています」
そんなてっちゃんの、ネクストステップをご紹介します。岡山県美作市で活動を行う一般社団法人「と或る農園」の代表理事を引き継ぎ、森・川・田んぼ、やぎやニワトリ、ひつじたち、そして地域内外の人々とともに、未来のためにできることを楽しく実践していきます。そして、8月28日からは、初のクラウドファンディングに挑戦。
テーマは、「最前線を巡る！高校生が挑む、日本全国の『環境課題の解決策』を学んで届けたい！」です。気候危機への不安をきっかけにアクションを始め、これまでも全国で環境を再生する多くの人たちの元へ足を運び、地域のあらゆる立場の人たちとつながり、人・動物・自然の恵みと社会の課題を探究してきたてっちゃん。その一つひとつの出会いを通して、「人間は自然を壊す存在ではなく、豊かにできる存在になれる」という希望を得ることができたといいます。
「危機的な状況だとしても、そこに取り組む人がいて、まだ希望が残されている。もっとたくさんの人に、この希望を届けたい。そして、ゆくゆくは自分自身が解決策をつくり出せるようになりたい」──そんな思いから今回、全国の環境課題解決に取り組む最前線を訪ね、そこで見たこと・感じたことを発信する旅にでます。支援金は、旅の交通費や取材・発信の活動に活用されるとのことです。

In June this year, during Dr. Jane Goodall’s event in Japan, a youth storytelling session was held at The British School in Tokyo. One of the speakers, high school student Tetsuya Ezawa (affectionately called “Tetchan”), shared his heartfelt journey in a five-minute story. He reflected on his personal transformation and said:
“I want to be part of the solution. That’s why I’m now exploring regenerative living—a way of life where humans not only coexist with Earth but help it recover and thrive. I hold on to the hope that humans can become not destroyers of the planet, but enrichers of it.”
Now, Techan is taking his next step. He has taken over as the new representative of Toaru Farm in Mimasaka, Okayama Prefecture, where he works together with forests, rivers, rice fields, goats, chickens, sheep, and people from both inside and outside the community to put sustainable living into joyful practice. And starting August 28, he has launched his very first crowdfunding campaign.
The theme is: “Exploring the Frontlines! A High School Student’s Journey to Learn and Share Solutions to Japan’s Environmental Challenges.”
Sparked by his concerns about the climate crisis, Techan has already traveled across Japan to meet people restoring nature and tackling local issues. Through each encounter, he discovered a profound sense of hope: that humans can indeed enrich, not destroy, the natural world.
“Even in a crisis, there are always people working on solutions, and that means hope still remains. I want to share that hope with more people. And one day, I want to create solutions myself.”
With this conviction, he will travel to visit the frontlines of environmental action across Japan, documenting and sharing what he sees and learns. The funds raised will go toward his travel expenses, interviews, and outreach activities.
