出張ワークショップレポート in 北杜市 Community Mapping Workshop Game in Hokuto
8月24日（日）、山梨県北杜市で開催された映画『ANIMAL ぼくたちと動物のこと』上映イベントにて、Roots & Shootsの「コミュニティマッピング・ワークショップ」を実施しました。
午前・午後あわせて約90名が映画を鑑賞。上映会場では、タラ オセアン ジャパン事務局長のパトゥイエ由美子氏によるトークセッションも行われました。海洋調査から見えてきた現実について語っていただき、海の大切さを改めて学ぶ時間に。特に「海底の1平方キロメートルに蓄積するプラスチックごみが1トン近くにのぼる」というお話は改めて衝撃的で、過剰なプラスチックの生産と消費のあり方を見直さなければならないことを再度実感しました。参加者からは次々と質問が寄せられ、関心の高さがうかがえました。
続くRoots & Shootsのコミュニティマッピング・ワークショップには、20名以上が参加。ユース向けにデザインされたプログラムでしたが、子どもから大人まで幅広い世代が集まり、これまでとは違った魅力を発見する機会となりました。各グループが大いに盛り上がり、世代を超えた学びの場に。
農業や林業に携わる方、森林整備に取り組む方、太陽光発電の課題を考えている方など、地域に根ざした実体験や視点が共有され、まさに「コミュニティ」ならではの対話が生まれました。参加したユースの中には、家業にまつわる課題について自分の思いを語ってくれる子もおり、地域の未来を一緒に考える時間となりました。

On Sunday, August 24, a screening event of the film ANIMAL was held in Hokuto City, Yamanashi, where we also conducted a Roots & Shoots Community Mapping Workshop.
Around 90 people attended the film screenings held in the morning and afternoon. The event also featured a talk session by Yumiko Patouillet, Executive Director of Tara Ocean Japan, who spoke about the realities revealed through ocean research and reminded us of the importance of the sea. In particular, the fact that nearly one ton of plastic waste accumulates in just one square kilometer of seabed was shocking, and it reinforced the urgent need to rethink our plastic production and consumption. Many questions were raised from the audience, reflecting the strong interest in this issue.
More than 20 people joined the Roots & Shoots Community Mapping Workshop that followed. Although originally designed for youth, this time the program attracted participants of all ages—from children to adults—revealing new dimensions of its appeal. Each group was highly engaged, and the workshop became a place of intergenerational learning.
Participants included people involved in agriculture and forestry, those working on forest management, and others concerned with the challenges of solar power. Their hands-on experiences and local perspectives enriched the dialogue, creating a truly community-driven exchange. Among the youth participants, some spoke about challenges related to their family businesses, offering a meaningful opportunity to reflect together on the future of the region.
